About this event

Title: One Book, One Story: An Introduction to the Themes of the Bible that Reveal God’s Grand Plan

Style: Combination lecture and workshop style. The teacher will explain the pattern with examples, then the students will search provided scripture passages to discover the pattern for themselves.

When: Thursday evenings, 6:30-8:00pm | June 15 - July 20, 2023 (6 weeks)

Where: Rogers Community Offices (building behind The Lodge)

Facilitators: Led by Dana Baran and Melissa Church

Childcare: Not provided

Registration limit: 20

WHAT: An introduction to Biblical Theology, emphasizing that the Bible is one book with One Author who is telling one story. We will identify the thematic pattern of God’s redemptive plan beginning in the Garden of Eden and continuing through the Old and New Testaments.

WHY: To deepen our understanding of the cohesive nature of the biblical narrative and be able to see the pattern of God’s redemptive plan every time we open His Word. Ultimately, we hope this will strengthen our faith and give us a clearer understanding of God and his forever faithful love for us, causing us to love and want to serve Him more.

HOW:
Homework: no homework required

Classroom time: We will begin by reviewing the pattern each week, followed by studying provided scripture passages to discover the pattern for ourselves in several different biblical stories in a workshop style format. We will end with some time to share and pray with each other.

WHAT TO BRING:
Workbook: We will provide handouts each week along with supplemental material. You will need to bring a three ring binder, along with a Bible (preferably NIV, ESV, or NASB) and preferred writing utensils.
